Stormy 4th Shaping Up for Chicago

The temps are climbing a bit and today and tomorrow appear to have the potential for storms. Of course, the TV weathermen and women here are bending over backwards to try and convince everyone that the 4th will not be a total washout and that all plans you may have for heading downtown for the Taste of Chicago or tonight's huge fireworks display should not be canceled. You almost have to wonder if the city itself is putting pressure on these people to say things like that.

Today will be a mix of sun and clouds with a chance of a spotty isolated thunderstorm, particularly in the afternoon and evening hours. The high today will be in the mid 80s, around 83.

Tonight the thunderstorm likelihood gets a little stronger. Many of them will likely be late, perhaps after midnight and on into the Independence Day morning. Lows tonight around 70.

For the 4th of July, showers and thunderstorms off and on all day long is what it looks to be. Some of those storms could be severe. Highs during the holiday are expected to be around 83.

That potential for severe weather is lined up for Wisconsin today and tomorrow and extends into Minnesota.
